I utställningen möts flera 16 mm-projektorer som tillsammans formar en skiftande konstellation av rörliga bildfragment. Genom ljus, film, ljud, text och illusion uppstår ett slags maskinrum av fyrar.

"In the space, you are presented with a background hum. An archive of old joy. A
labyrinth of projectors churning celluloid, maybe too much churning, an abundance of it. 16mm film in all forms – found disintegrating scraps of silver nitrate celluloid, digital tapes, Skype screen recordings, spliced material that is taped, flipped, holepunched and retaped. Material found and intimately treasured. Moments that had an urgency to be captured, as proof that this really happened. Flirting.

They loop with the patience of lighthouses, their lengths varying between 8 and 10 minutes, causing different combinations of images with every visit. But you may notice the films rhyme between themselves, gossiping between each other. Rolling their r’s. They tell stories of homes, of dogs, of drunken conversations overheard and of a haziness in perception, of noticing the strangeness of how that hangs just so, or of the way it reflects and shadows.

Ebbing and flowing. Caustics. Circles. Spirals. Here you are reminded of optical
illusions – of being told how something works, but still being tricked. Sunlight on your eyelids pulsing purple, red, black and white. These films are silent, but there are moments when sound comes through – bottles blown, the visitor next to you with a song under their breath, the excitement of the window seat of a plane ride over Alaska. The exhibition lasts 30 minutes. "

Andy Allen-Olivar tilldelades ett stipendium inom Bernadotteprogrammet 2025

Stipendiet omfattar 125 000 kronor ur Axel Hirschs donationsfond, ett års ateljévistelse samt en utställning vid Konstakademien.

Andy Allen-Olivar (f. 1995) föddes i Bogotá, Colombia, växte upp i Oxford, England och i Buenos Aires, Argentina. Han tog sin Masterexamen i konst vid Konstfack i Stockholm 2022 varefter han studerade en Post Masterkurs i Decolonizing Architecture vid Kungl. Konsthögskolan. Andy Allen-Olivar arbetar med film, fotografi, installation och text. Han verk och filmer har bl.a. visats på Postmuseum, Centrum för fotografi samt den offentliga platsen ”Undergången” i Haninge.
